Rules

We try to leave you as much freedom in using the EE infrastructure as possible. In this we assume that you consider the following rules:

  • Responsible usage of resources goes without saying. Printing in particular results in direct costs for the department.
  • The Internet does not exist in a societal vacuum. eMail, WWW, etc are governed by the same rules as your offline life.
  • Cracking is un-cool! Both on our systems and on others.
  • Your password is your personal secret (no exceptions). If you want to share data with somebody, ask us, there are ways of doing this securely.
  • The highest priority when using ITET Computers have activities related to your studies and research (read the posters in the computer labs).
  • The ETH's Acceptable Usage Policy is imperative.
  • The Microelectronics Design Center makes available industrial CAE/CAD tools for designing VLSI chips and printed circuit boards. Usage of those tools is confined to teaching and academic research on behalf of ETH Zurich and is subject to extra license regulations.

If you have any questions regarding this of other toppics in connection with the computers at the D-ITET, please contact us at support(at)ee.ethz.ch.
